Prime Minister David Cameron and Vice President Michel Temer of Brazil call on the world to support The Global Hunger Event on August 12th
Globally more than 1.2 billion people struggle to meet their basic nutritional needs. Malnutrition and starvation can lead to illness, stunt child development, and even cause death.
Smallholder farmers are increasingly playing a critical role in feeding the world. In order to meet world population demands they need access to the right tools, knowledge and markets.
iDE promotes food security by supporting the local private sector to deliver these essential productivity-enhancing inputs. We urge the Hunger Summit this Sunday to consider the role of the local private sector and consider small farms as businesses rather than charity beneficiaries.
